I’m Anita! I’m 26 years old and I grew up in Hamble. I studied Computing in school and then did an apprenticeship in IT in London. Covid lockdowns meant I moved back home after only six months in the city. Since then I’ve had a mix of different jobs; working in a local pub, child care and administration.
Nails have always been one of my loves. As a teenager I grew my nails long and sharpened them to a point, painting them with varnish during school holidays. Then for Christmas 2017 I got my first gel kit, and I was hooked. Being at Sixth Form College meant I could have my nails painted, and I had them painted all the time!
Slowly but surely I expanded my collection of colours, trying different effects and slowly getting more bold with designs. In March 2023 I got my first Builder Gel, and I loved it! I grew my nails incredibly long with it, and I could understand why it was quickly becoming the new big thing in the nail world.
I got better and better at painting and got more bold with my designs. Soon, friends and family were asking why wasn’t I doing this professionally?
In May 2026 I finally decided to pursue nails as a career! And so Manic Claws was born.
Why Manic Claws?
When I decided I wanted to become a nail technician I knew I needed to think of a name for my business. I love a pun, so I wanted a nail pun for a name.
Manicures… Manic Claws… Get it?
